Recession??? Says Who!!

Every major country leader has acknowledged and stated that "We are officially in recession!!"

The world at large is grappling with recession and the common man is left struggling to make ends meet, fearful of whether they will have a job tomorrow and be able to put food on the table!!

At a time when everyone is on a cost cutting spree - be it personal expenditure (clothes, make up, recreation etc) or food (eating out, buying just the right quantity of fruits and veggies etc), budgets are being drawn up left right and centre!

The sad thing is...this doesn't seem to faze our erstwhile leaders the slightest bit. For the recently celebrated pongal festival - the leader of our state spent thousands of rupees decorating his front gate, for whom I'm not too sure, considering the area is a high-security zone!!!

What you see below are actual apples, oranges, mosambis(the 3 ball hanging thingy), all the green stuff is pineapple, sugar cane and cucmbers and other green veggies...CRAZY!!!

This fruit veggie salad was left hanging outside his house for abt 3 days...rotting for no one's benefit...Had he had the good sense to serve all this to some deserving people, im pretty confident it would have comfortably been enough for around 10 - 15 families!!!

You Gotta Love Google!

I open my blog..and this is what I see..

Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh arrived from google.co.in on "Penny for my Thoughts: Men..don't get too cocky :)" by searching for cocky men.

Maybe he / she from Hyderabad was searching for Ramalinga Raju :)

phone issues

Drunken Monkey...that;s me...

only to feel sheepish when the hangover brings

i wish i could jsut be

only to think tomorrow "O Brother"

Suspension

I want to sing...but I end up humming
I want to dance...all I do is tap my feet
I want to talk back...I just talk in my head
I want to go out....somethin holds me back
I want to give in...pride gets in the way
I want to stick it out...then I think..to hell with it
I want to give up...a picture flashes in my mind

I want to eat and drink and make merry - well..THAT I manage to do quite well!! :)

This is not intended to be a serious post by any stretch of imaginations..This is not me feeling sorry for myself...This is me just oscillating between extremes!

Goodbye Crappy 2008, Hello 2009!

OK..so the general perception all around is that 2008 sucked! How could it not??

People lost tons of money on the stock market, Lay Offs, terrorism at its worst etc etc... Intersperse this with your own personal tragedies..death of a loved one, road accident of a friend, your cousin failing his board exam etc etc...and once again CRAPPY 2008!

Rewind to last year...I greeted 2008 with much pomp and splendour...it was probably one of my best new year nights ever...3 of my friends clinked clinked and toasted repeatedly for what they were personally gunning for..a) marriage b)children c)good job with good money....everyone was at their optimistic best...well..one is typically at their any-best if one has done many rounds of clink clinks ;) Couple this with statements like "2008 is your year..I can feel it" and one is bound to be swept away by the 'high' tide!

Fast forward to new year 2009..the same 3 friends clinked clinked and toasted repeatedly for what they were personally gunning for..this time however the toasts were all general "May ALL your dreams come true" was the safest toast...Cynicism and superstition had taken over...No one was optmistic inspite of the free flowing and excessive consumption of alchohol!

I really do believe I have become lighta cynical over the year...I was never a negative, pessimistic person..and I really dont want to start now...So this time I was careful not to wish for anythin in specific...cos I've learnt albeit the hard way - that only when one has expectations - the possibility of disappointment sets in...

So I begin 2009 on an hopefully positive note (well..cynicism cant be rubbed off in one day).. ;)

so..GOODBYE CRAPPY 2008, HELLO 2009!!! MAY ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE THIS YEAR!! :)
